“An anthropological approach leads to a revolutionary change in our thinking and understanding. It implies a radical shift away from accepted ideas, a break away in our interpretation of what our world is about and so allows a deeper knowledge and a change within oneself.” François LAPLATINE, Anthropology. Ed Payot1995. (1st edition1987, Seghers, Keys to Anthropology) page 21-22The window portraits consider a development of what we see as a genuine image, a subject raised by André Dion at the Festival of le Son Miré in 2005. These portraits give insight into some of the families living in Fabrezan. Keeping at a discrete distance, I was able to photograph these people by asking them to open their windows. The far away gazes seemed suddenly very close through the camera lens.
